On the Relevancy of The Institutionalization of Sin
by Perry inchild murder, sodomy & corrupting the human genome are not new sins, they are old ones.
what is new is their institutionalization.
but even that isn't totally new.

Why would Jehovah and Jesus talk to Satan?
by hardtobeme inif satan is the greatest apostate there is, why he was allowed to be in heaven?
job chapters 1 and 2 says that jehovah talked to him.
wasn't jehovah supposed to shun his son and set an example to all parents?.

I'm an atheist intellectually and a cosmic pantheist at heart after the tradition of Carl Sagan. The universe is my goddess.
As Shakespeare said "There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

The moral abominations and contradictions of the Bible can be found here. All that Perry's sources do is to cherry pick whatever is convenient to them without mention of the inconvenient scriptures. An example of an inconvenient set of scriptures is shown right above in my last post. -

33 “‘When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. 34 The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God. - Leviticus 19:33-34 New International Version

44 “‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. 45 You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. 46 You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly. - Leviticus 25:44-46 NIV

28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives. - Deuteronomy 22:28-29 New International Version
And yes, I know the rationalization that Judeo-Christians use in stating that those laws were ok back then for cultural reasons but that doesn't hold water. Why would God care about what other nations or cultures do and instead tell the Israelites not to do such things? What the Israelites were doing back then would be considered an abomination by most modern day Christians. So are Fundamentalists not aware that they themselves are supporting moral relativism in comparing today with yesteryear?

Welcome bitsbob. If you enjoyed Ray Franz's book Crisis of Conscience let me recommend his book In Search of Christian Freedom.
I'm not much into Bible history but I would recommend Out of the Dessert? by William Stiebing. It's about the likely origins of the ancient Israelites.

Finkelstein,
"I suppose if someone wanted to re institute slavery based from what they've read in the bible , you would stand behind that person 100 % , being that the bible is the true word of god and all."
There are in my estimate hundreds of thousands perhaps a few millions of Christians who want all the Old Testament civil laws to be enforced in this society. They are referred to as Reconstructionists (They call themselves Theonomists).
A seemingly small number but politically powerful out of proportion to their size.

Perry,
"The Watchtower brainwashed us into believing that consciousness stops at the separation of the soul and body."
Perry, you should know that the Witnesses do not teach that there is a separation of soul and body. They believe that the soul is the body.
